SAUVIGNON BLANC
Sauvignon Blanc is a green-skinned grape originally from South-West France. The name reflects this - 'wild white'. These days the grape is common around the world, especially in the 'New World' territories of New Zealand, Australia, USA, South Africa and Chile.
The wines are crisp, dry and refreshing, especially the single varietals but it also used in dessert wines such as Sauternes and Barsac.
Sauvignon Blanc flavours tend to be herbaceous or floral with notes of gooseberry, grass, nettles, grapefruit and peach depending where it is grown. The wines go well with cheeses, light meats and Asian cuisine.
