RIESLING
Riesling, the most grown grape in Germany, is an aromatic flowery white grape used to make dry, semi sweet and sparkling wines. Riesling wines are most often varietal (ie it is the single grape variety in the wine).
The nature of Riesling wines is influenced hugely by where the grapes have been grown. Because of the high acidity of the Riesling grape, the wines age very well.
Notes of lime, green apple, beeswax and petrol are most common (peach and citrus in late-ripening varieties). Riesling wines pair well with Indian/Asian food, duck, pork and seafood.
