CHARDONNAY
Originally from Burgundy in France, the Chardonnay grape is now grown across the world, from the UK in the North to New Zealand in the South.
Chardonnay is used in many of the famous sparkling wines such as Champagne and Franciacorta. It is the second most planted white grape (after Airen) and is used in a wide rang of wines from dry Blanc de Blancs to rich, creamy whites.
A 'neutral' grape, much of the flavour of Chardonnay come from the terroir it is grown on, and it has different flavours in cool climates than in warmer climates
Grown chiefly in: France, USA, Australia, Italy, Chile, South Africa, Spain.
Notes of: yellow apple, star fruit, pineapple, vanilla, butter
Low sweetness; medium to high acidity
Pair with subtle spices, lobster.
