CABERNET FRANC

Primarily grown for blending with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Cabernet Franc is one of the primary black grape varieties. It is sometimes used on its own, especially in the USA.

Lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon, it makes a bright pale red wine most often with a peppery perfume making it ideal for blending with stronger tasting grapes. It is the 'parent' grape of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

First grown in France, France is still the biggest producer of Cabernet Franc, followed by Italy and the USA.

Notes of: pepper, tobacco, strawberry, raspberry, chilli pepper, bell pepper, violets
