GRENACHE\GARNACHA

One of the most widely planted grapes in the world, Grenache (Garnacha in Spain), produces rich flavoured red wine and deep ruby roses.

It is a late ripening grape so does well in dry, hot conditions like Spain or the South of France and is also grown in Sardinia, Australia and California. It produces high alcohol wines that are spicy but soft on the palate. It is the most important grape for Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines and is often used in red blends too.

It displays notes if strawberries and grilled plums along with leather and dried herbs. It pairs well with roasted meats and spicy dishes.

Grenache Blanc is a colour mutation of the Grenache grape and is often aged in oak to produce wines with flavours of plum, pear and honeysuckle.
