Grown exclusively on the volcanic, basalt slopes of Mount Badacsony, the Kéknyelu (Blue Stem) is unique. This female-flowering grape gives naturally low yields and a creamy wine with discreet power, concentration and finesse, great length of flavour and exceptional ageing potential. A fascinating wine, a truly original variety which was down to a single hectare at the end of the communist era. This is almost like an orange wine in style metallic, mineral, with the chewiness of tamarind skins and dried herbs, an orange acidity, and a smokiness trailing after the bitterness of wood bark, all dallying with the soothing balm of limeleaf tea and honey. Pairs beautifully with seafood, scallops, crab and lobster and sushi. Incredible ageing potential.
